Wallace & Gromit: The Wrong Trousers #MovieReview

Time for another dip into the random bucket of films and this time we have 1993’s “Wallace & Gromit: The Wrong Trousers”. Written and directed by Nick Park and premiering on the BBC on December 26 1993, this short animated comedy film is about Wallace being used by a criminal penguin in a robbery involving mechanical trousers. For a short film that’s only 30 minutes long, this is worth a watch. There is a lot of silent moments, mostly because there’s three characters and only one talks, but I feel the music and what was happening made up for it. It was simple and easy to follow what was going on and it left me asking questions which the film would go on to answers. If I was to be a bit nitpicky, the scene in the museum where Penguin gets the diamond could’ve been a bit shorter. I know it’s one of the main scenes in the film but I feel that if they could’ve sped it up a bit. Or, if this was to be remade, make the rooms in the museum a bit shorter. We see from Penguin’s plan that the distance from the air vent to the diamond is 30 feet. Maybe make it 20? Again, this is just nitpicking. Besides that, this is fun little film to watch on days where the weather outside is a bit rubbish (like right now where I am as it just started raining). If you have seen this short film then let me know what you thought of it in the comments. Here is what I had to say while watching 1993’s “Wallace & Gromit: The Wrong Trousers”

I do like this theme song

We open with Gromit making breakfast while Wallace sleeps

Well that’s one way to get dressed

Don’t you just hate getting bills in the mail

It’s Gromit’s birthday and as a present he gets a dog collar and lead

And a pair of walking trousers

No one gonna question why Gromit is on a slide

Dogs can knit? Ok then

A penguin then arrives as Wallace puts a room for let

I’m having Gromit’s room! Don’t question it

Well that’s one way to paint the ceiling

Don’t you hate it when you’re trying to sleep and your roommates playing carnival music on full blast

Huh? If the penguins been outside this entire time, then who’s been playing the music?

Hmm… Something about this ‘guest’ doesn’t go well with Gromit

NOOOOO!!!!! Gromit’s leaving!!!!

Wait, where did he get that raincoat from?

HA! Wallace just said the name of the film!

And off he goes in a pair of out of control trousers

Chicken? That looks a lot like a penguin wearing a rubber glove for a hat

Ah, I see! Penguin has the controls

Wait… How did Wallace get his pyjama pants over the robotic ones?

This is a very quiet town they live in. Haven’t seen cars! Or anyone else

Gromit taking inspiration from Metal Gear Solid being stealthy in a cardboard box

This penguin seems to be planning something…

That son of a…. HE’S REDECORATED MY ROOM!!!

Nice to see the penguin take safety into consideration putting a crash helmet on Wallace, who’s asleep

Ever wanted to know what Gromit looks like wearing Wallace’s clothes? Thanks to this film, your curiosity is over

I’m curious as to how Wallace hasn’t fallen out of the trousers now he’s upside down with no harnass

I was wondering how the penguin was gonna get the diamond with Wallace asleep

Also, how did he get a crane to fit in that helmet?

And how does the crane have the ability to re-grab things when falling?

Shut up and stay in the wardrobe!

Oh and I’m not paying rent!!!

Wait… Where did Penguin get a gun from?

And now to make my escape on a toy train

Well that’s one way to get out of the trousers

Didn’t think there was that much spare track in that box

Hooray!!! We’ve caught the evil penguin!!

And everything went back to normal

And catching him paid off all our bills!

Wait… The trousers are moving by themselves?? But who’s controlling them?
